Look into everything before moving
Open every cabinet. Check all the screws, the walls, and the ceilings. Tap the floors for any hollow spaces. Check the water line and electricity line. Keep in mind everything you do daily and how it will play out in the place you’re checking out. If you work from home, is there a space for a home office? If you have pets or kids or both, are the windows and doors secure? What about its closeness to community staples like a hospital, grocery stores or wet markets, malls, and even other residential establishments? You shouldn’t stop there. What about things like laundry – can you hang clothes or do you need to buy a washing machine of your own? What about mail and bills? Is your place reachable and searchable for couriers? What about security? What internet, water, and electricity provider works best in the area? These are just a number of things you have to be meticulous about before putting a downpayment.
Save up months before you move out
Speaking of a downpayment, it is advisable to have at least six months’ worth of payment. When we say payment, we mean the following; rent (if you’re paying rent), installment fees (if you’re paying to own), bills (electricity, wifi, and water are the basics), and groceries. It’s also best to have a separate savings account for emergencies and unforeseen situations. You can’t help it if something breaks and needs repairing or someone in your household gets sick. So, being prepared for a rainy day is best.
